A 30-year-old Indian lady who had always had a dream that she will one day fly a plane finally got her dream come to reality ,despite the stereotypes and the difficulties she had with school fees, she never stopped dreaming. Divya is today being recognized as the world’s youngest female Boeing 777 captain. She reportedly started her journey of becoming world class pilot at Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi, a flight school in Uttar Pradesh.
Though her friends and some of her relatives were not supportive of her career choice, her parents, dad Major Murahari and mom Padmini, stood by her. “My parents instilled confidence in me. They were always there to guide me towards achieving my goal,” she said. Divya got a job immediately after her graduation with Air India, a national carrier. Along the way, she was sent to Spain for further training.
She later returned and started flying Boeing 737. She reportedly went for another round of training, came back, then graduated to flying the company’s flagship Boeing 777 aircraft, an extraordinary accomplishment.
Her dreams came true. Captain Divya is a perfect role model to young girls who dream of becoming pilots but are being discouraged by stereotypes.
