Tragedy has struck twice in three days as another former coach of the Super Eagles, Amodu Shuaibu died in the early hours of today, June 11. This coming barely 72 hours after the nation lost a legend, Stephen Keshi. Until his death, the Edo-born coach was the technical director of the Nigeria Football Federation.

It Was gathered that Shuaibu was said to have complained of heart problems yesterday, June 10, before his death.
Sources told our reporter that he went to sleep and was discovered dead about 4am. His body is being moved from the Stella Obasanjo hospital in Benin to his home town in Okpella, where he will be buried today according to Muslim rites in his home town, Okpella in Edo state. He died at the age of 58.
Although, some may not know, it is noteworthy that Amodu contributed his quota to the development of football in Nigeria before his death.

1. Despite his achievements as Super Eagles coach (two bronze medals at the Nation’s cup), Amodu Shuaibu had a turbulent relationship with Nigerian football fans and his employers, as he was been referred to as a caretaker coach by his critics.
