WORLD CUP: FIFA snubs Enyeama for Golden Glove award

FIFA’s Technical Study Group has left out Nigeria’s Vincent Enyeama, from the list of goalkeepers nominated for the Golden Glove award at the ongoing 2014 World Cup.

Manuel Neuer (Germany), Keylor Navas (Costa Rica) and Sergio Romero (Argentina) are the three stoppers who made the final cut.

Neuer has kept three clean sheets and impressed with his ‘sweeper keeper’ display against Algeria in the second round, while Navas kept two clean sheets as Costa Rica embarked on a fine run. Romero has however kept four clean sheets, as Argentina progressed to the finals and saved two penalties in the shoot-out against Holland in the semi-finals.

Tim Howard and Guillermo Ochoa are the two other keepers who put in great displays at the World Cup, but were snubbed by FIFA.

Nominees for the Golden Ball award are Lionel Messi, Neymar and Arjen Robben, while Paul Pogba, Raphael Varane and Memphis Depay are shortlisted for the Best Young Player prize
